A perennial broadleaf, in the buckwheat family. Typically grows in wet areas, full sun, but can adapt as areas dry out. Found in ditches, roadsides, pastures and crops. Grows 2-5 feet tall. Has a tap root, stout stems with a basal rosette of wavy margined, alternate leaves. Flowers late summer, June- Sept. Flowers are green Seeds are 3 winged membranes, shiny brown. Present throughout U.S and Canada
