
Skunks are mammals best known for their ability to secrete a liquid with a strong, foul-smelling odor. General appearance ranges from species to species, from black-and-white to brown or cream colored some may be white.
Skunks are omnivorous, eating both plant and animal material. They will eat insects and larvae, earthworms, small rodents, some reptiles, birds, moles, and eggs. They also commonly eat berries, vegetation, fungi, and nuts. In settled area they seek out garbage and pet foods.
Torn lawns and garbage areas. Areas sprayed will be unpleasant to pets and their owners.
Control:Sanitation, barriers, repellents, trappings and disturbing their habitat.
Notes:Skunks seen during the day may not indicate that they are sick. They normally feed during the dusk and dawn but if their food source or home is disturbed they may hunt or look for a new home during the day.
