Broadleaf Dock

Broadleaf Dock

Broadleaf dock is a perennial weed found in pastures, orchards, home gardens, floodplains, along borders of woods, and around buildings. It is a rosette-forming, large-leafed plant with a stout yellow taproot that can reach depths of up to 5 feet. The reproductive stem may reach heights up to 5 feet ending in clusters of small inconspicuous flowers with greenish petals that turn brown at maturity. Flowers contain no nectar and are wind-pollinated. A cork-like triangular fruit surrounds each seed. The plant reproduces primarily by seeds. This fruit is buoyant and can be dispersed by water.
