Catnip

Catnip is an erect perennial best known for the minty odor emitted by its leaves and stems when they are crushed or wilted. Other characteristics are downy foliage with serrated leaf edges. The white flower has unusual purple dots. Catnip is also identified by square stems 1 to 3 feet tall. Leaves are opposite, triangular or heart shaped and have pointed tips. Each flower produces a pod containing 4 seeds, red brown in color.
