Clover, Sweet

Sweet Clover is a biennial growing to 6’ tall with spreading branches. It blooms yellow flowers in spring and summer and are highly attractive to bees. Its leaves are fully divided into three leaflets. The leaflets are egg-shaped to oblong and .5 to 1” in length. Sweet Clover is named so because of its sweet odor. It is very drought resistant and is a prolific seed producer. It will not tolerate dense shade and is commonly found in prairies, abandoned fields, and roadsides. It is often used as a cover crop and as feed for livestock.
