London Rocket

London Rocket

London Rocket is an annual in the Mustard family mainly distributed in the southwest from California to Texas and the Ohio valley from Michigan to Massachusetts. It is also sporadic from Florida to South Carolina. The common name comes from its rapid appearance after the “great London fire of 1666”. It usually grows to about 2-3ft tall. Lower leafs can grow to 6in. long with the upper considerably smaller. It produces flowers of pale yellow in small clusters on the end of the stem. London Rocket reproduces from seed and is a highly competitive weed. It prefers disturbed sites to grow such as roadsides, fields, orchards and gardens.
