Mallow, Indian

Indian mallow is a woody perennial that is in the Mallow family. The tough fibers from the stem have been used in making rope. The plant is a native and is found on the entire North American continent. It can grow to 3ft. tall with pointed ovate leafs to 4in. long. The flowers are yellow or orange and up to 1in. in diameter. It prefers dry rocky soils in the sun but will do well in moist shady locations.
