Marsh Elder

Marsh Elder is an annual species that is mostly found in damp sandy soils such as ditch banks, stream beds, and in flood plains. The plant ranges in height from 1 and a half to 8 feet tall. The leaves of the plant are generally opposite ranging from 2-8 inches long and 1-6 inches wide. The edges of the leaves are serrated, with the top of the leaf being rough like sandpaper having grayish-green coloring, and the bottom of the leaf being coated in soft silky hairs. The flowers of the plant are florets, or clusters, of yellow to whitish flowers that bloom from July to September.
