Mustard

Mustard is an annual plant that can range in height from 1-2 feet tall. The leaves of the plant are large oblong to oval in shape having slight lobes in them. The flowers of the plant are easily distinguished by having a small cluster of yellow flowers, called florets, that plant bloom from May through July. Its leaves are egg-shaped becoming lobed as they mature. Leaves can grow 2 to 8 inches long. Its flowers are produced in clusters at the ends of branches and consist of four yellow petals. Also the stems of the flowers have small branches coming off of them that look like stems without any leaves. It should be noted that in some parts of the Great Plains the plant in considered a winter annual, and will grow in the winter months rather than the summer.
