Nettle

Nettle

Nettles are a perennial plant that is found mainly in low wet areas. The plant can range in height from 1-3 feet. The leaves of the plant are opposite on the plant, leaves grow out of the same spot of the stem on both sides of the stem, and are oblong in shape leading to a point at the tip. The edges of the leaves are serrated. The plant is covered in small spikes that appear to be hairs. These small spikes can cause irritation and itching when they come in contact with skin. The stems are also easily distinguished by having a rigged groove down their centers.
