Sunflower

Sunflower

Sunflower is a summer annual plant that produces huge, fiery blooms that resemble the sun. The flower heads can contain 1,000 to 2,000 individual flowers. They are typically found in full sun, growing in fertile, well-drained soil. The seeds are often sold as feed for birds and can be used directly for salads and in cooking. In the mid-western US, a wild perennial species often affects corn and soybean fields.
