Thistle, Musk

Musk Thistle is a biennial plant that be found in most areas of the United States. The plant can range in height from 1-9 feet. The leaves of the plant are easy to distinguish by being deeply serrated with all the edges of the leaves coming to a sharp looking point. The leaves are smooth, lacking any hairs on them. The flowers of the plant bloom from May-August and are fairly large, around half inch to an inch wide, which is generally rose-purple to white in color. The plant in some areas is considered a noxious and must be controlled with the use of an herbicide.
