Thistle, Tarweed


Tarweed Thistle (Tough one to find, found tarweed as Madia sativa) is an annual growing 8” to over 5 ft. It is covered with sticky resin glands that have a strong unpleasant smell. It has hairy leaves that are linear or lance shaped. It flowers in clusters of yellow flower heads. Each head bears approximately 8 florets around a center of several disc florets tipped with dark anthers.
