Western Salsify

Western Salsify

Western Salsify is a biennial with yellow flowers and a large puff-ball seed head that resembles a dandelion only larger. It is often mistaken for a grass because the leaves are long and linear. They typically reach lengths of 12” and are thicker than those of grasses. It emits a milky sap when broken. It is common in the western US, but is becoming more common in the east.
