Yellow Rocket

Yellow Rocket

Yellow Rocket (also called Bitter Wintercress) is primarily found in the Eastern and Central U.S. and to a lesser extent in the West. It is a member of the mustard family and is a biennial or winter annual with shiny green foliage and grows as a low rosette in its first year and then produces yellow flowers on broccoli-like stalks the following spring. Individual flowers are small and have 4 petals. It can be distinguished from other mustards by the large heart-shaped terminal lobe of the mature leaf. Unlike many annual weeds, it can survive low mowing. Has a tap root and a fibrous root system.
